How I Fixed The Heavy Car Bug In Rocket League

This worked for me but I cannot guarantee that it will for you but its worth a try

There seems to be a game breaking bug in rocket league at the minute that everyone is refering to as the ”Heavy Car Bug”

For me it just felt like my car was sluggish and the car turn radius felt so stiff.
I feel like Iv tried everything but finally I got my rocket league experience feeling so good again, It feels that good that I dont care if I lose because I have nothing to blame it on other than bad play on my behalf, But honestly since I fixed this heavy car bug I have had more wins than losses, I was once stuck in that mid diamond range and now Im at Champ 2 Div 3.

Im not exactly sure what fixed it for me but I will explain every process I did to get my game running smoothly again.

No.1 Contacted Physonix

Naturally the first thing I thought to do was to contact physonix and explain what was happening and I got this reply :

I didn’t follow through with there request to make a video because it is not a visual problem, It looks perfect on video so I just don’t know how that would solve anything.

No.2 Updated Drivers

I used a program called Driver Booster to check all my latest driver updates

You will need to upgrade to the pro version for it to download and install all driver updates for every computer components

Luckily you can upgrade for free, I found a video on youtube that showed me how it is done.

But I fully reccomend this program, Its easy to use and with one click of a button it automatically downloads and installs all the latest drivers to your pc.

No.3 Forwarded Ports

Once I done this process I saw a great difference in the gameplay. Before I done this though I had to upgrade my router, I did have a huawei hg658c which I got sent out from vodafone which is absolutly terrible for port forwarding, It only allows you to forward 250 ports. I upgraded to a TP-Link VR400 and I would highly reccomend this router if you wanted to upgrade.
There are specific ports that need to be opened for Rocket and Steam

Rocket League Ports:
7000-9000 UDP

Steam Ports :
To log into Steam and download content:

HTTP (TCP port 80) and HTTPS (443)
UDP 27015 through 27030
TCP 27015 through 27030

Steam Client
UDP 27000 to 27015 inclusive (Game client traffic)
UDP 27015 to 27030 inclusive (Typically Matchmaking and HLTV)
UDP 27031 and 27036 (incoming, for In-Home Streaming)
TCP 27036 and 27037 (incoming, for In-Home Streaming)
UDP 4380

Dedicated or Listen Servers
TCP 27015 (SRCDS Rcon port)

Steamworks P2P Networking and Steam Voice Chat
UDP 3478 (Outbound)
UDP 4379 (Outbound)
UDP 4380 (Outbound)

This guy explains perfectly how to forward these ports

No.4 Use Square Deadzone

Using the square deadzone was a real game changer for me especially after I forwarded the ports.

Follow the steps on the video below to use the square deadzone on steam

After I done this my car felt so sharp and responsive to turn, It was actually the best I’ve ever felt rocket league gameplay.

No.5 Tweaked Nvidia 3D Settings

These tweaks in my nvidia control panel was the icing on the cake!
