Those shots are really nice considering how early this is. There are obvious places that need work but it's still early. I like the armors on the humans that were shown and those shields are pretty cool. Where's the male Deva? I also liked that door even though we've seen it before. And that boss monster looks pretty scary/huge. Now I need to see the video.
Ok, that's the end of my random comments. In the screen with the Human on the left that appears to be dodging is that something controlled by the player? I hope.

KK … plenty of fanboi stuff above me.
imo it’s well done for this stage of development. Far, far better than the pre-alpha GW screenies for example. So it should be. For me, the standout is the boss mob. But when I think that the standard that WoW, LOTRO and HGL have set in recent years it's also obvious that there's a ways to go - as you'd expect. Constructive criticism. No combat animations yet ? Particles, spellcast, weapon splash, blood etc? Computer room. Main toon seems to lack texture. Aesthetic of angels + stone + subdued decorations doesn’t gel for me. Angels = light + glass + vistas + lots of religious symbology. And stained glass. Point is that there needs to be a coherent artistic vision linking the environments to the toons. Don’t really see it here. As an example, think Taurens. Minor clipping/floating issues with feet. Lighting and shadows are off. Compare main toon shadow with angel near door. Appears as if light source is between them. Shadows in all screenies need work. Power room fight Mob models appear to lack detail and are meh. Some model perspective issues – what’s up with the length of the female’s closest arm? Entrance face off. Angel model is nicely done. Door fits aesthetic. Stone still not sold on. Issues with model weapons holding. See main toon’s hand. Sword model is meh. Looks more like an oar than a devastating weapon of destruction. Some of the best oversize weapons animation I’ve seen is in HGL. Check out a engi with some of the huge guns. There’s your goal. Tentacle room Same issue with those swords. And the hands holding them. End of raid Clipping issues with one of the bodies on floor. Gateroom battle Some awkward model shading (check out angels butt). Is prone angel down or falling? Assume it’s a screenie mid fall, otherwise I’m wondering why she’s doing pushups in front of the boss mob.

I agree with your idea of how it should be, just don't think it applies too great to the screenshots given. I certainly hope I'll be able to take my character out to environments which don't exactly mesh with what I look like... And yea...the swords...personally not even a fan of huge swords, but even as far as big swords go I wasn't impressed. Also kind of worried by those monsters...what are they holding? |

Congratulation! I am a bit jealous, because you achived much in this time :-P
I don't know how you got Cry Engine, but I assume, it was with help of the new Investor. On the other hand I don't know, how you want to make an MMO with cry engine. It's nice to have stunning graphics, but I don't think the engine is really made for MMO-s. You still need server side tools etc. I think, it would be better to get an MMO engine. |

Just as everyone else is saying, this looks great for the stage that it's in. That raid boss looks EPIC!!! I see a few things that could be worked on, little things, but I'll wait to comment on those once I've either seen the game in action or it's in a later stage of development. One thing I will say now though is that the Deva appear to be very minimalistic. I would like to see their appearance to be a bit more grandiose...just my thoughts.
Anyway, keep up the great work guys! Looking forward to this beast of a game. Quote:
You have to remember, Damon isn't just making any MMO, he's making THE MMO. If you use the MMO engines everyone else is using, you're probably going to end up with the same game everyone else made. Sometimes, if you wanna do great things, you gotta go against the flow, mix things up ![]() PS Couldn't help but notice that the new screenshots are in a section titled Gameplay Demo. You wouldn't happen to be releasing a new video any time soon would you...? ![]() Last edited by DFLX : 05-30-2008 at 03:37 AM. |
