Just curious on the solo vs group play. Being someone who can easily put in 14 hour days at work. To come home and have to be committed to a 3 to 4 hour group is something I can't always do or want to do in some cases. A solo game is a balance and to be able to progress in the game when you only have a few hours to play will be a lot funner then having to spend those few hours looking for a group.

When I played WoW one of the things I hated most was finding a group. Even when guild members were online, Group play was hard to come by. When WoW turned into a "must need this class or this level" group mentality its became even harder. I haven't played WoW for almost a year now so that may have changed. I remember logging on for 3 to 4 hours looking for a group and not able to find one. You can only do so much PVP stuff. Back in the "day" I beta tested EQ1 and a warrior class took 20 minutes to heal up when you didn't use anything to speed things up. Can you say "BORING".

Group play is great but again finding the right group can be a huge pain. Let alone being stuck in some instance with idiots that are horrible players. If the instance then is a 3 to 4 hour commitment..... oh I'm getting anxiety just thinking about it... ;D

Finding group systems never really worked in the MMO's that I've played. You rely heavily on people you know or guild members to ensure you get people you can trust and count on to do their job.

I understand though that you can't make things so easy for a group and impossible to solo. The balance is crucial. I did find this post from Damon;
Neuvena says "Hail, Miserable Wretch"
Miserable Wretch says "ah, Neuvena do you have the 2,000 Hellmice tails, 6400 pumice, and 200,000 gargoyle %&$^?"
Neuvena says "yes here they are"
Miserable Wretch "Great choose your reward! you have done me a grand service!"
Neuvena recieves a pet rock.

Redundancy makes for such poor gameplay, never fear your days of fetching mice tails is at an end. =)

It will be interesting to see

I hope there is a good balance of both types of play.

Like u, there are times i just prefer to go solo and specially prepared solo content is a lot of fun. Often, in mmos, i will solo "group instances/quests" just for the challenge they present a solo player (cant always be guaranteed success).

Group content is a must for guildies/meeting players. Achieving goals needing group participation sorts out the wheat from the chaff.

I think dungeons/instances in KW will be possible to solo because the game is meant to be based on skill, and if the mobs in the dungeons are strengthened by the amount of players in the team, they should also be weakened when it is a single person. And if that persons skill level is high enough you should be able to pull it off with a lot of work ;D

I agree on the fact that in some cases finding a group can be boring. Although Solo's are fun (do things your way), the reason why there's a group in the first place is to combine forces and own bigger mobs. As a cookie model, when you join a group you tend to gain more exp, that's good too.

And if KW involves actual skill and real time combat then good groups and guilds will be made off the best players, not the one's that spend the longest online. In other words, if you're good; your group is good.

As far as Solo, I always liked the "lone ranger" kind of thing, but I don't know how KW will be, if it's truly based on pure skill then the people that relied on groups due to the lack to present that skill in previous MMO's (click and point crap) will surely just Solo.

Hopefully there's a little of both.

I'm sure there will be alittle of both like

Group: You would obviously have a larger party based on the strength of that group you would kill mobs faster and less recieving skill points as if you we're to solo it but it grouping would provide better rewards like gear / achievements who knows what else.

Solo: You would just have yourself in there based on your strength it would take longer for you to kill mobs but would provide you will more skill points using weapons or however they will be using it.

Both would be great to see. Solo players that just want to get things done the way they want to do it. And Grouping for organized battles and fights on the harder mobs. That will require teamwork and communication. I think both content will be good.
