Screenshots of inside the current Kaos build. Please let us know what you guys think. The company has worked very hard and we are very pleased with the result. But ultimately the gamers will be the judge. Thanks again for your patience and support. Alot more to come soon plus video in the near future.

I'd also like to thank Crytek. A wonderful company who has helped us achieve alot of our milestones. Their engine provided us with amazing tools and stunning visuals.

*All screens are in the Media/Screenshots section for the front page.

FOR THE KAOS LEGIONS!

Wow, that looks kick ass. Even better than I expected... :o It's especially cool to see that you decided to use CryEngine2. That was new to me...

Keep up the good work, guys. Can't wait to see more and the video!

Must say...much encouraged by what I'm seeing.

A bit worried about how you'll make individual humans have unique looks, but we've only seen one player and what looked like human NPCs? And obviously this is early.

Looks great :)

I think I need to be alone for a few minutes. They are incredible. I love how in the last one there is a human actually on the bosses hand. Don't care if it was just a bot human, that is amazing if you can actually do it.

Shame no Al'gar are there, but it is still early days for the gameplay.

Right we are still very early. But visually we wanted to be truly stunning. Things will change but the team worked very hard to get it to this point. Al'gar didnt make it onto the list for this build. The Deva still need more work but humans are coming along great. We are building stages of the Sanctus Ciraci the human starting lands.

Very cool indeed. And I would say you have succeeded at making it look stunning. Those humans do look great, with just the right level of intricacy on the armour (unlike Guild Wars that went ott with armour detail and it's just lost and looks messy during normal play). Love the eagle head styled shield, and the sword with that fine gap down the mid-line making it like twin blades.

Cheeky question though, what is the approximate level of the humans, mobs and boss seen in these shots, or is that to remain secret for still some time yet? ^^;;

I am impressed. Great work guys. The boss screenies stunned me in my chair ^.^ Please do make him have a loud RAWR. Don't mind at all looking at lady butts *drools*, well defined asses. For early stages this was very unexpected. You guys really out did yourselves.

Those shots are really nice considering how early this is. There are obvious places that need work but it's still early. I like the armors on the humans that were shown and those shields are pretty cool. Where's the male Deva? I also liked that door even though we've seen it before. And that boss monster looks pretty scary/huge. Now I need to see the video.

Ok, that's the end of my random comments.

In the screen with the Human on the left that appears to be dodging is that something controlled by the player? I hope.

Please let us know what you guys think.

KK … plenty of fanboi stuff above me.

imo it’s well done for this stage of development. Far, far better than the pre-alpha GW screenies for example. So it should be. For me, the standout is the boss mob.

But when I think that the standard that WoW, LOTRO and HGL have set in recent years it's also obvious that there's a ways to go - as you'd expect.

Constructive criticism.

No combat animations yet ? Particles, spellcast, weapon splash, blood etc?

Computer room.

Main toon seems to lack texture. Aesthetic of angels + stone + subdued decorations doesn’t gel for me. Angels = light + glass + vistas + lots of religious symbology. And stained glass. Point is that there needs to be a coherent artistic vision linking the environments to the toons. Don’t really see it here. As an example, think Taurens.

Minor clipping/floating issues with feet.

Lighting and shadows are off. Compare main toon shadow with angel near door. Appears as if light source is between them. Shadows in all screenies need work.

Power room fight

Mob models appear to lack detail and are meh.

Some model perspective issues – what’s up with the length of the female’s closest arm?

Entrance face off.

Angel model is nicely done.

Door fits aesthetic. Stone still not sold on.

Issues with model weapons holding. See main toon’s hand. Sword model is meh. Looks more like an oar than a devastating weapon of destruction. Some of the best oversize weapons animation I’ve seen is in HGL. Check out a engi with some of the huge guns. There’s your goal.

Tentacle room

Same issue with those swords. And the hands holding them.

End of raid

Clipping issues with one of the bodies on floor.

Gateroom battle

Some awkward model shading (check out angels butt).

Is prone angel down or falling? Assume it’s a screenie mid fall, otherwise I’m wondering why she’s doing pushups in front of the boss mob.

Was this supposed to be like...a raid encounter? Plus they've been working on humans, not Devas so I would assume that the stone would be human and/or completely different area for a mob boss. They aren't going to be fighting the boss in the middle of the Deva's cathedral :P
I agree with your idea of how it should be, just don't think it applies too great to the screenshots given.
I certainly hope I'll be able to take my character out to environments which don't exactly mesh with what I look like...

And yea...the swords...personally not even a fan of huge swords, but even as far as big swords go I wasn't impressed. Also kind of worried by those monsters...what are they holding?

Congratulation! I am a bit jealous, because you achived much in this time :-P

I don't know how you got Cry Engine, but I assume, it was with help of the new Investor.

On the other hand I don't know, how you want to make an MMO with cry engine. It's nice to have stunning graphics, but I don't think the engine is really made for MMO-s. You still need server side tools etc. I think, it would be better to get an MMO engine.

Just as everyone else is saying, this looks great for the stage that it's in. That raid boss looks EPIC!!! I see a few things that could be worked on, little things, but I'll wait to comment on those once I've either seen the game in action or it's in a later stage of development. One thing I will say now though is that the Deva appear to be very minimalistic. I would like to see their appearance to be a bit more grandiose...just my thoughts.

Anyway, keep up the great work guys! Looking forward to this beast of a game.

You have to remember, Damon isn't just making any MMO, he's making THE MMO. If you use the MMO engines everyone else is using, you're probably going to end up with the same game everyone else made. Sometimes, if you wanna do great things, you gotta go against the flow, mix things up 8)

PS
Couldn't help but notice that the new screenshots are in a section titled Gameplay Demo. You wouldn't happen to be releasing a new video any time soon would you...? ;)

Hey guys thanks for the feedback! The Deva are in a very early state. Humans are really getting there though. We have alot more to do. Its all a process and its going super well.

Right this place is called Kilith Prime, its an ancient citadel not built by the Deva. It holds a power much greater and darker than the world itself. Also the boss monster you see is just a pet for the being that lies in wait for you!

The only things I'm skeptical about are the textures of the room where the boss is (I noticed they're a bit foggy and don't come together very well, making the lines of doom) and the angels' body structure. I don't know, it just seems a bit... unrealistic when it comes to humanoid. But that must be me. I love the boss though, very well done. In general the screens are good.

The boss looks ALMIGHTY. I LOVE oversized bosses, well done guys!

OH and Important suggestion!!

You know how for the concepts you have the pics on that nice little browsing thing and the pics show up on a little portrait to the right.

Why dont you have that for screenshots, its a would be better if the screens were in the system like the concepts and then you click on the pic to get the full sized version

Now that is nice graphics :)! Very cool, hopefully the computer specs won't be too high so you guys have more range of playerbase (ex. AOC needs high-end specs making them lose quite a few players).

Holy crap! Looking insane!!

If I saw those screens on the box of an MMO I would def. pay the money to buy it and try it!

Keep up the fantastic work!

By the commercial release, higher end hardware will be more commonplace, so it won't be as much of an issue. But still, these are very early screenshots of the game. Once SRI layers on all the shaders/particle effects/etc, I can imagine this game being a bit of a resource hog, particularly in PvP and raid situations. Hopefully they'll have very scalable graphics options to reach a broader audience.

I'm not worried though, I already have a 3870 and a quad-core processor w/4GB of ram. It's all you suckers with Celerons and Radeon 9000's that have to worry :p

Coming along nicely, good job, but in so far as a critique I'm pretty much in agreement with some of the things Moloch has said.
For me one of the make or break elements is lighting techniques. Really need to get that right both internally and externally ie ambient light, sun rays penetrating through trees etc and it adds that depth of field / 3D factor to really lift a scene. As it stands currently I'd say things look flat but it's early days - I know you'll get there ;)

things that I like as well are dynamic ascetics. Stuff that you don't notice because it common, like leaves blowing on the ground when the wind picks up, birds flying through-out the sky.

Nice to see it coming along, I've been impressed by the sheer will that you have to get this project going, as a game dev student its motivating me ^^

I have to agree with Moloch thought, especially on the lighting. There is little contrast between light and shadow, and the boss mob itself seems to have very agressive normal mapping and bloom, which makes him look kinda like a big blobb.

I am looking forward to see and hear more about what you have on the table thought, keep up the good work, it drives me ^^
