A few things I'd like to see:
First Name
Last Name
Hair
Hair color
Facial hair
Eye color
Face shape (not connected to eye color)
Skin color
Height and/or Scale (Unless it clashes with the morph system)
Less Likely
Animation Sets (the way you hold and swing your weapon, walk, run, etc)
Character Features
One Armed, One Eyed, etc.
These might give slight bonuses, and might be taken almost as traits.
One armed might have a bit higher ability to dodge attacks, due to less body mass.
One eyed would get some penalty to 3-D perception, but increased overall senses, passively affecting their capabilities.

The different animation sets would be a neat little touch. And the features could be cool but they'd have to be really careful about the pros and cons of each.

Personally, at minimum, I'd like to see the same level of character customization that is available in EQ2. Lots of sliders, lots of color options, etc.

Looking into it TookyG, and Welcome to the Kaos Legions!
I think you will find our options to your liking though we might do a few things different.

Thanks for the welcome everyone.
Damon, differences in character customization are fine by me. I wouldn't want the exact same customization options in every game mind you. However, I'm sure everyone can agree that the more options players have the better.

Re intially rolling a toon, on launch (like with AoC), most people I know are too busy reserving names to be worried about what they look like. You might reroll a placeholder later if you care about such things.
BTW, build in the option to hide helmet graphics into release.
The thing about CoH and the success of their system was that the most visible and distinguishable part of a toon's appearance - their clothing - was not linked to performance. Although I didn't play it I think Matrix Online had a similar system.

LotRO's new outfit system is actually quite nice. You have one tab where your armor is, and then two other tabs where you can create two different visual looks. This could be casual non-armor costumes, or maybe a set of junk armor that just looks nice, all dyed one color. Then you can select which one will be visible, your real armor, outfit 1, or outfit 2.
And of course, next to helmet, hands, feet and cape/cloak there is the option to show or hide. :)
Matrix had clothing at launch , you could make yourself look groovy , you could find trench coats , tshirt , leather biker jackets and stuff. Two game mags , had random new outfit in it , (total 10 , but the hottest it had was a top hat like Slash's hat from Guns N Roses , went for 75 million game money at the time)
I d rather have a City of Hero type style of system , first you can pick whatever armor/look you want but make like billions of options. Then you had sliders for everything including breast on females. Finally a billion +1 color , and outfits you get from quests or in game through a shop , which are for look , like sun glasses , or glowing right eye.
For names make the savable before the character design part , so people arent rushing through the character creation. Make creation deep , like :
Skills
Appearance
Limitation /Weakness :
Perks / Advantages :
Basic Skills : Like when you begin a character you know certain things:
Example :
Military Training Basic Skills would include Handguns , Long Rifles and Hand to Hand combat + medic kit.
You should also make everyone able to raise , with a skill called "Basic Life skill" which nobody dies , just goes into coma , and you stop the bleeding to death.

including breast on females.
 aww, lost's growing up ;D
I disagree with you on that point, its just very off putting for a player like me, it just screams over horny gamer and is very unprofessional. Just have normal breast size, and be done with it, adding options just makes it really "im a horny gamer"
apart from that i would really like tons of customization options.

There's no reason to leave out customizable breast size. If you're going to allow for other customizable parts why not the breasts as well? It's a part of the body that differs among individuals. Imagine if the companies that make bras only made them in one size; that would be unprofesional. Why?, because not all breasts are the same size. Now if they made it where you could change the size of each individual one out of the pair, then I could see it being labeled unprofessional. As long as they keep it within a certain range it'll be fine.
This will most likely not apply to me anyway as I will choose a mail character model for most, if not all, of my characters.

If you didn't know...No female has perfect breasts. Every women has one tit larger than the other. Might not be as noticeable but it is true. Usually one side of the human body is larger than the whole other side.

I always play as a male too. How can I truly role play if I don't have the same gender as my character (applies to me)? It would be very creepy if male breast sizes were changeable too. Ugh.

I object O_O I think breast sizes on men should be tweaked. I like moobs. haha. More comfortable to rest on than a board let me tell you....Every part of the body should be customizable within reason. Not internal organs of course...that would be just stupid lol.

comparing it to bra size is like comparing "knitting weekly" to "XXX in the shed"
Games unless specifically designed for getting ppl horny shud not include stuff like that, it is really tacky, and shouts out "I WAS MADE BY A 10 YEAR OLD"
Though judging from the responses so far it seems i am a minority. I will concede that allow the breast size changable, but make it from medium small, to medium large (medium being the desired default breast size). Overly large or small breast just look stupid, so i will concede that to a point.
But i still am repulsed by the whole breast slider idea. And though im a minority now, the forum members are hardly large enough to give good statistics.

Why not? Too solve all of this, there could be a weight adjuster. Starting with height, petite>average>tall. Than the weight falls into place. Skinny, Average, Moderately Overweight. With a slider yes. Than frame of course, small, medium, large. Than you can also add in muscle ^.^ For those more fit. So you can have it be realistic, all around. Fatter people have bigger breasts. There you go. Also, depending on your choices ^.^ it makes your character move slower/faster in different ways. So, really you can make anything a short but large framed man with muscles. I hate how MMO's usually only give you one size for your model. There needs to be some variations of some sort, but keep it realistic within reason. Personally there is nothing wrong with big breasts in an mmo....As it annoys me too that there is rarely large framed models to choose from. Most of America is obese. I am moderately overweight. I could careless, I love my taco bell. lol.

i agree with the size thing, but dont make it like guild wars where it goes to such extremes that you have hobbits and giants running around everywhere.

I like sliders to, including one's for weight but i hope it won't be like CoH and CoV where you have almost the same armor the whole game and a little bit of upgrades. It makes the game look cheap. Sorry just my Opinion and nice to see that the CEO posts on the forums. You don't see that much even though this is a fairly new game. :)

And please, sure I do like variate, odd, sometimes dubious hairstyles/faces/etc in games.
But most of the times, among 10, there is like 2 cool looking, 3 so-so, and 5 absolutely horrible that seem to be there just to "fill".
I rather have 6 cool looking.
When I say cool, doesn't mean pretty. Just not... inadequate xS
You know, those awful styles that some people choose just because everyone else uses the rest...

Haha agreed there are some pretty shitty concepts made that no one likes. Just keep it interesting. 8)
