Everyone likes to be the good guy.
So how will we balance numbers?
Temporary rewards/a bit mroe power for lesser?

Yeah, I'm afraid of unbalanced factions too.
In Dofus Online, I say about 4 out of every 5 aligned character was Angel and would really gang up on the Devils. It would make the Devils always run from fights simply because angels were in such high numbers.
The game also gave some slack for being an angel: you got easier quests to get better bonuses while Devils had to work a bit harder.
And honestly, if you were to choose to become aligned and realize that almost everyone around you is an angel, then you'd become angel too.

guys I'm sure they will find a great way to balance this out. That is what beta is about, see how the game flows. I'm sure there is something the devil's will have that is awesome and attract players to that faction.

I think thats one of the things actually that I love most about this game :). How cool is it going to be when you and you friends get to unleash a Demon horde upon the puny Humans Mwahahahaha.
*Sorry not constructive.... But just think about it.... hmmmmm Demons..

The game sounds major awsome. If only I had a good computer. Both of mine blow. I would be a human for the guns.

My guild went horde in WoW because we believed that the Alliance would be more popular. We wanted to be in the minority to ensure that we had PvP on tap. With WoW's flawed PvP concept and mechanics it didn't work out that way <shrug> but having a good PvP rep gives epeen.
If a game promotes skill and isn't just zerging, then good PvP players, in class balanced groups, and on vent/TS will shred larger groups of lesser skilled players the vast majority of the time.
It's common wisdom in WoW that one of the general reasons why Horde was less popular than alliance was that the Horde races were 'ugly', with Night Elves in particular appealing to the younger players. The expansion should fix this.
For KW I think there is some importance (apart from race balance) to making the three race models equally impressive. That way - hopefully - there won't be 5.9 million Angels, a handful of demons, and the odd human or two wandering around wondering why they rolled a wingless, non-horned, average-sized toon, with nothing special to recommend it.

might as well post my question here. How many characters can we create?? or is it too early for this question to be answered. I would like to try out all factions/races and was wondering if we will be able to do that and have a variety of different characters.

It's definitely too early to say how many exactly, but I would estimate the maximum number of Avatars you could create falling between 5 and 15. Keep in mind that this is a rough estimation and is subject to change, but so far as to give you an idea it will suffice.

well im totally going to make a devil character first because that just seems waaay cooler than any of the other races. Guns are cool and all but when you can rot your enemy from the inside out and set him on fire magically from afar..well just cant compete with that.

Indeed, the Al'gar have a strong draw as the evil bad ass race, but the Humans and Deva have their own draws as well, dont you think?

well yeah i mean deva can fly and be all like holy avenger on everyones ass and humans can blow everything that moves to hell with a BFG!! so yeah the other races have there draws to, but i just find being Al'gar cooler.

Everyone knows that when given the chance to play as a demon you can't resist. They're just cool like that.
And then there are the angels. In almost every game you play as the "good guy" so I think I'll have to make me an Al'gar.

I think i'll be human :)
Ghost = Sniper fire!!!!!
or even better Active Camoflauge with sniper rifle :D!!
Oh add some shaking like dod so you have to master your skill and make hit box smaller so not everyone can pick one up :)

Well I think it goes without saying that all of us here will be playing all 3 at least once :) While my character name gives away the choice I had originally been planning on, at this stage its too early to say which side will be my main. All of them have benefits and will bring new gameplay to the table.

All the tech heads will definitely want to pick up the Humans. As usual I cant get into details, but the Human race will have some interesting tools at their disposal... not just guns. ;)
The Deva, on the other hand, can FLY right out of the box. Currently, we are planning for the Deva to engage in air to ground and air to air combat. Also, they have other interesting things about them that I cant really discuss. ;)
Of course the Al'gar are diabolically cool. Theres no doubt of that... but the other two races will be more than interesting enough for you to want to play all three races. Remember, Kaos War is also an unfolding story that we plan to span over 5 years from the initial release of the game. No, for all you future beta testers, that does not mean you'll be getting a sneak peak at whats going to happen. The story is going to be a major part of the game as it will change the face of the world within Kaos War. All three races play a different part in this arc, so playing each side will give you the opporitunity to see the story from every angle.

Personally i love the tragedy that is "the fallen angels" if there in the game on either the deva side or demon, im that. but i will have one of each race. The fallen angel will just be my main (if there playable)
jiisu

Keep in mind, Baneful, that the races in Kaos War are NOT Angels and Demons. In all seriousness, they aren't. We referred to them as such in the past because its much easier to explain what they are in those terms rather than saying Al'gar and Deva because of their similarities to these religious denizens. However, the nomenclature used to name each race does have some meaning behind it. Other than the humans of course.

Well i meant it as "The concept of" the fallen angels. I knew it would translate to the deva and whatever they have thats close to that. But thank you for noting that Jiisu.

Quite the contrary. Unfortunately, I can't spills the beans for you guys. There is something brewing behind the gates of Shattered Reality... to borrow from the Lord of the Rings. Er... maybe thats not such a good idea. :-p
