I have recently given up World of Warcraft, not for the first time sure but I will definitely not be going back.
The last straw was when me and my friends decided to create new characters on a new server and found that the average level 10 item sold on the AH for 13 gold. The economy was haywire, I was level 10 with 35 gold because i mined (about 1 week on and off play) and and the only blues you saw sold for 160 gold (level 16).
Which brings me to my main point. Twinking. Twinking in most online games is a real hassle, it screws with economy, promotes gold farming, and gives a real disadvantage to new players.
But how to stop it?
Well the main problem is not the fact that people sell it, its the amount that people are allowed to sell it for. to be able to chuck a 100 Gold buyout on a level 10 rare item can only promote Twinking. Now I have no idea if you are implementing a Auction House system or if you are putting in any Trade system at all. (That would certanly stop the problem.) but placing a limit on items as they sell would hinder any attempts.
Say you come across a rare item that you can't use, you decide to sell it. In Wow knowing that the items is rare (you can even check its percentage drop rate) you could put it on the AH for way more than item is worth, putting it way out of reach of someone who could actually use it.
If say the item had a cap (level 15 item max Buyout 4 Gold) It would still be expensive but within reach of that respective level.
Thats my Idea, Once Again i haven't read ALL the posts so i don't know if this has been discussed before.
