Beta??

Hello everyone,

I think I may have the next game in mind if I end up becoming addicted to viewing your progress in the next year and a half. My question to you is, will there be a Beta Test for the game? If so I would love to know and test out Kaos War. I'm here for you guys all the way.

Nah it's ok, there will be a Beta, it's still a long ways off ofcourse, first you'll have to watch us try to get publishing and/or investment and plow our way to E3 next year hopefully!

That said, don't worry, we'll keep in mind some of the the early fans when it comes to beta.

I'm sure this game will get plenty of attention when it reachs E3,..and i also would like to be included in the beta testing,.I've helped test games in the past,wont post them because it'll take me too long to post them all lol :P.

As mentioned in previous posts we havent decided on what exactly will be the prerequistes for Beta. The main things are that you are posting feedback and joining in the discussions on the forum.

Sad thing is i like playing game and when this game does go to E3 we all here the current vets wont be anymore this game will be know to all.

I've been beta-ing a lot of games for a long time and it by no means is fun persay lol...

Last game I tested, well I was actually a core tester, all the NPC's were invisible along with other player heads, I would crash to desktop an average of every 5 minutes, quest mobs were invisible which was actually kind of fun because you had to run around until the mob agro'ed you. Every single quest completed you had to fill out a survey including when NPC A says go talk to NPC B directly behind you as soon as you talked to B you had a 5 minute survey to fill out. Then you get your levels up quite a ways and then there is a server wipe done and you start all over again.

Don't bother asking what game it is because I'm still under the NDA agreement but just saying it's not a fun process. Especially when in game maps are broke, makes for a lot of back tracking and exploring lol...

While the Devs have said there will be a beta, the latest real update we have on progress is that the state of development at approx 26 Feb 07 is “finishing up some of our prealpha prototype work and core concepts.” (Damon, The Game Musketeer, 26 Feb 07)

Two of my favourite beta stuff ups were:

Beta testers opinions are overwhelmingly that the game isn't ready for launch but we're going ahead anyways (SWG)

Because mob aggro doesn't scale with level there's a simple trade exploit that let's naked low level toons run around high level zones farming resources. Beta showed this will ruin the economy, but we'll let it slide. (LOTRO)

I never looked the same twice when hunting a mark, bought a different uniform for every one lol. Sometimes I would stalk them for days if they were inexperianced, during the short perma-death period I might let the new ones live lol...

Beta's can be fun in the sense that many times you just form a giant guild with everyone playing which makes for easy testing. (Closed beta and alpha testing I guess I should say never seen it in an open beta before)

Beta testing can be fun, its exciting to wait for new releases to come out and watch something develop. Kaos, from what I've heard so far, seems to be absolutely incredible and exactly what I've been looking for in an MMO for awhile now.

Although I will admit, North Korean beta-games can have some absolutely ridiculously massacred Engrish (Yes... Engrish, its a language all its own). You'd imagine they might hire someone capable of speaking the language before releasing it, eh?

I've been looking forward to the Warhammer MMO coming out, but this seems like it could wipe the floor with it... Wait.. Did I just say that out loud? Tzeentch! Forgive me!

Not only do they have bad english, but they are often mass produced (One big company making 5 mmo's a year) Wich gives them alot of bad buggs and almost no feeling to it, (And extremely bad support). And alot of them have "point click" moving, wich is ancient. And not to mention, they are extremely stiff, so you don't get that "I can do whatever I want with this character" feeling, kinda like WoW or Warhammeronline.

I really love beta testing. Yes it has it's ups and downs, but I love the fact that I am helping to make the game playable and helping to spot problems and what not.

Well here's a suggestion.

Everyone in the closed beta gets a scar or something. I've always wanted something like that to distinguish folks who have been playing sense beta instead of having everyone and their brother saying "I've been here sense Beta 3 noob!"

And how come they always say "beta 3"? I heard one guy spouting this off in an MMO I use to play and they never even had a "Beta 3" lol

they almost definetly cant give you a date yet, probably not even an apporoximation. Theres bound to be a massive bug that surfaces up that they have to treat or a string of smaller ones that just lead to bigger problems

There's always something that happens during a beta. Just watch, some sort of super-oh-my-god-I-will-eat-you bug that appears out of nowhere.. And the cause will be vista. I really hate vista.
