maybe a dev can answer on this didnt see it written anywhere else is the gear going to make the player or the stats the player has ?
Gear is going to function a little differently in our game, and that's about all the information I'll divulge at the moment. We're allowing for a multitude of player power improvements, and no one particular item or skill will help you tremendously. Gear upgrades will come more scarcely than you may be accustomed to, due to their differing nature. Give it some time, and we'll be able to explain a little more, but it's very very cool =)

There have been three old (pre-May 06) Dev comments on gear. For what it's worth, you can find them in the Order from Chaos thread in the Kaos War Community Forum.

I like this, its a great plan (err... general idea/hint/possibility) to change gear and equipment around a bit. Nothing is more frustrating than PvP of any kind and getting whipped around by a twink (character who has equipment/bonuses far beyond what they reasonably should) when you're no longer an introductory player, but not yet wielding that all-powerful sword of +5 newb-slaying.

Well, I hope a character depends on gear, but gear also depends on the character.
To me, a weakling wielding the best weapon, should be just a weakling wielding the best weapon.
If indeed there will not be levels, items will obviously depend on other factors - perhaps depending on your distribution of abilities you'll be able to equip a certain range of weapon/armour.
And twinks only really happen where economy is very flawed.
If items' accessibility is balanced with their usefulness, then all is not lost.

The morphing system probably allows armour, at least, to be worn exclusively by individuals of a certain range of abilities, due to different size/shapes that abilities impose over the characters. This, and perhaps some more individualizing factors, may contribute to a balanced accessibility of items.

Epic quests?
Of course, it wouldn't be awesome if there wasn't.

in the creating chaos episodes Damon says something about your armour growing with you, and that to me sounds AMAZING!!!
From what im getting, i see that at every 20 or 30 levels theres a set of armours, (im hoping for a big set, say like 10) and each one has its weaknesses and strengths, and all amass to the same amount of points say:
Armour of the Fat Footman (lvl20+):
Defense: 50
Magic Resistance:10
Weight: 30
Armour of the Nimble Nomad (lvl20+):
Defense: 20
Magic resistance:20
Weight: 10
So bascically they have exactly the same stat points... And if your thinking, wait a second, ones got more than the other then think again, Weight is a bad thing, so you minus it from the total of the others, leaving both of them at 30.
ok and this armour will last you through 20 levels, and theres 10 different armours with different capabilities for different types of players, like if you prefer range then you'll probably want to have the "Nimble Nomad Armour", while a brute axeman would prefer the "Fat footman armour", and it will last you 20 levels (as long as you keep on repairing it) because as you level your armour levels and you can put extra stats on it.
Now im speculating (and hoping) for this next bit, for every armour as you level there are different appearances for each depending on where the stat points are, say if you raise the defence above 70, then your armour gains some spikes, and if you raise the magic defense above 40 then your armour gets golden pauldrons, so effectively letting you have a unique armour to everyone else.
If any of these assumptions are correct, that is one great game :p
