How will dying affect the players, in terms of penalties and such, and how will it tie into the story/world of Kaos?

Let's all do one big exotic dance together for Damon. Then he'll have to show us more; if not, then I guess we'll have to show more.

Haha, it just shows you're comfortable with your sexuality. Nothing wrong with that. But it's still weird hearing you say that.

I feel that people who are insecure in their sexuality are the only ones that are really freaked out by lesbians or gays. Or bisexuals even. Not that it applies to everyone, but it is a trend at my school.

And I just like calling you a homophobe. ;D

It is a big penalty!

No it isnt. It's "hold my hand mister, I cant cross the street by myself" .....

Although penalty for death from pvp and pve should be different. It could even vary by type of death.....
FFA PVP: loot loss( not total loot and even something along the lines of kill points)
Arena PvP = XP loss/possible level loss (even make it a wager between the two opponents!)
Siege type battle : XP debt (no lvl loss)

PvE death: XP loss, item degradation/destruction, ress sickness (the kiddie penalty)

Vladimir

yeah death penalty should be different for pvp and pve. for seiges and such were people are dropping like flies then the penalty should be lowered because no one wants to lose 5 levels after every seige. Arena fights should have a slightly reduced penalty because your chance to die is much greater then in pve. Finnaly pve should have somthing along the lines of exp loss, possibly with or without level loss, but shouldnt be so harsh you want to kill Damon everytime you even think about the last time you died.

I like what Ziegler said about wagering EXP loss in an arena fight.

Heh, I kinda like that. Wagering not only money, but skill atrophy. That'd be awesome. That'd mostly just be for trash talking purposes, though. Can't implement something like that into basic arena or warzone fighting.

Interesting, though.

Wagering, I think, should be considered since it is fully up to the players to decide the desired amount of gain or loss. If the loser gets mad over what he has lost, he can't put anyone at fault but himself. The game didn't decide his loss, he did. If the players want it to be a big deal it can be, if not then it can be a no gain, no loss fight just for fun. If a capped player wagers some experience and loses he wouldn't be capped in whatever skill anymore. He could then recap his skill. This could, in a way, make capping skills not the end anymore.

Story time.

The reason wagering skill atrophy is such an amusing topic to me, is because of my past. Back in EQ we'd ask rival guilds to sacrifice their guild leader's to let their guilds off the KoS (kill-on-sight) list. Basically we'd ask them to lose experience to our benefit (A rare spell reagent), several times. The end result being that the rival guild leader would lose half a level's experience or so. In EQ that could be a lot of time, especially back when Kunark was the only option.

It makes me smile because the idea of wagering skill atrophy is pretty fantastic, and I whole heartedly expect to be part of some (100% vs 100%) battles, where the loser expects to lose their entire skillset. That's hardcore!

That is a fantastic idea. Kudos to the community for that one. Ultimate bragging rights for the winner of those fights.

I would like to see a "Death Arena"

2 Fighters walk in

1 Walks out

Perma-Death at it's finest.

Then maybe charge a small fee to each player that wishes to witness the event and can stand behind invisible walls so as to not get perm-death'ed themselves on accident. A basic money sink to help control economy assuming there is some type of one.

You could take it one step further and maybe use it as a special event that occurs once a month or something. Only problem would be if players chickened out then you would have a no-show card so to speak and a lot of PO'ed players.

Haha, Conkers: Live and Reloaded, lol. Die ---> Go to Hell ----> Bribe/Fight your way out with your arena twist.
