Just thought I would throw this out there as it's always a good thing to know your tactics especially in a pvp game and no I know nothing about KaosWar's development and this really doesn't have anything to do with it just a what if it was something like this to get peoples idea's. Could look at it in a real life situation also.
Well here's an interesting question regaurding building destructable towns etc...
What do you build first?
A small city that no one wants to waste their time destroying other than a grief-er that you may or may not be able to defend from or...
A large millitary fortress in a circle type pattern for a future city in the middle only to be attacked time and time again just because players see the fortress and find it a challenge to destroy it even before the city can be built.
Now comes the hard part of where to build.
1. On top of the hill.
You can build on the top of a hill and yes can be surrounded by an ememy below the hill. However if manning permits you can have look outs stationed outside the radious and when word is given that forces appear to be on the way you send your own forces into the valleys below to snipe and pick off the troops comming in along with possible men/women stationed two hills away in order to actually trap them between the city and the forces behind them. Of course look outs have to be quite a distance away from the city in order to get the word out and time for forces to take their diffrent places.
2. Building in the valley assuming floods etc. are not a factor.
About the same as on the hill with the exception it might be more difficult to "trap" the enemy while their actually on the hill coming down because they may have a better line of site for invading or escape due to the fact they can see more of the surroundings while on the hill. At the same time it could all be a trap allowing the enemy to come down the hill to an empty base/city only to realize they are now surrounded by forces who expected them to show up.
3. Building on flat open land
Well this places everyone on a level playing field literally, assuming look outs warn of the enemy coming and there are enough people to defend, then it boils down to the number of people on each side, the amount of supplies you have and pure skill of the combatants.
I won't go into Guerrilla warfare, spies, or paying off the look outs as that just would take too long for me right now. I have a few of my own ideas what I might consider doing but am interested at what the rest of you think would be the best working solution for a city in this situation before I spout off my idea's.
