Knowing the game is going to have somewhat of a twitch based combat(Kudos)....undoubtedly you have played an FPS or two in your time and have run across that guy that jumps constantly. Commonly referred to as bunny hopping.

Have the Devs given any thoughts on ways to prevent this or at least cut down on it?

mayhap an acrobatic skill, and a endurance or stamina attribute to limit or build it up either way? I know from playing FPS's myself, I always hate to see the bunnies hopping around like their are overdosed on cocaine or meth.

Lol, Ziegler that's not bunny hopping, that's jump spamming :D. Bunny hopping was something that was implemented in the Quake series games where if done correctly, would tremendously increase your movement speed and jumping height monumentously. Bunny hopping sounds like something worth looking into investing. Jump spamming penalties wouldn't be too smart for a Twitch action game. Unles syou ahve a stamina bar like they do on BF2.

people jump spamming has come to be known as bunny hopping as well. I know it originated froma Quake hack but it has spread through the FPS games and from my experience it just means spamming the jump now. Kinda like MMO's use DKP systems when they arent fighting dragons anymore.

Either way, would like to know if they have plans to combat this or limit it.

From what i know bunny hopping isnt a hack, its just a taking advantage of a the games engine to make yourself move faster...

In many deathmatch style games, bunnyhopping is huge. Bunnyhopping adds a new level of speed to an already fast paced game.

Bunny hopping just worked off of Q2-base engines (HL1 specifically) because of their movement mechanics. Obviously, it won't work in our engine, because we aren't going to put it in (Q4, for instance, put in the strafe jumping mechanics on purpose).

Just so we're clear, strafe jumping is a little different from bunny hopping, but it's achieving the same goal, speed. I do have fond memories of bunny hopping across dust and killing T's in their spawn, though. =P
