That is such an awsome show. I know its only the first episode but omg. The story is awsome. Finally a better X-men type storyline.

anyone notice how it is very similar to LOST?
great character build up, similar characters (ie: drug addicted artist/musician, blond bombshell, accomplished doctor/congressman etc etc)
Great use of anticipation, although, LOST took it a little too far.
Definitely keeping my eye on this one!

Jaded, you hit the nail right on the head. I was watching the show and thinking "NOT AGAIN". Season one will be as slow as possible and MAYBE in season 2 we can see what the whole explosion artist rendering thing was about. :(
But if I had my way the whole series would be over in about 7.5 episodes. But that is why I am not a hollywood producer. :)

On IMBD, they only list 7 episodes for the characters, maybe its 7 episodes per character??? and then a new cast? Its really wierd, usually 12 - 16 episodes are in a season now a days.

Ya but I have never seen that happen before. Usually they have the entire first season finished. Everyone I know in GA watched it last night. I have 50 people over last night watching it with me. We all thought it was way better than Lost (POS) and much more interesting than CSI (Repetition killed CSI), but its still not as good as HOUSE or Bones or Survivor or Stargate, the list continues a little bit. But its good. Smallville is better because come on, Clark Kent (Tom Welling fits the part perfectly, who cares if he is almost 30), Lana Lang (Kristen Kruek is smoking, Cloe (Allison Mack, yummy), Louis (Erica Durance, dreamy, only if she was younger, idc, I would still ask her out) and the story line twist is great. Green Arrow is on Smallville Season 6 Premiere on Thursday.

Agreed. I wish we had the time to really sit down and watch a film or a good series. For me its Rome on HBO. Thank the gods they picked it up for another season. Octavian is going to tear it up! That look he gave Servilla on the season finalle just got me going. I wonder whats going to happen to Lucius and Titus pullo.

ROME, I completely forgot about Rome, the first season was the best. No Commercials, an actual 55min show with no commercials.

I disagree. I think dying in any manner can be cooler than the other depending upon who is dying and why he does or does not deserve to die.

we have a guy on death row here in Tn that is the last one able to choose to go out by the electric chair......and he chose it!!!....and some liberal turdhead said it wasnt humane or something and now it is being delayed....
I say, if he wants to be electrocuted....I'll donate a car battery to the cause!!

I say that people should be executed by the firing squad. That is cheap and cool. And if they are put on death row they deserve to be shot anyway. Not killed painlessly with a needle. And the electric chair is cool, too. But when they try not to "hurt" the guy who they're killing, it doesn't make sense and it doesn't live up to what the death penalty sounds like it should be. When you hear death you don't think of it as a painless one. When you read the newspaper and see that someone died you read to see what happened and your like "Ow, that sucks." The injection isn't the way to go if your gonna kill a criminal that was sentenced to death. He deserves some kind of pain even if it's just a split second. If he's sentenced to death, lock him up for the night and shoot him in the morning. That way it's cheap and quick. Why let him live for all those months waiting to just die? Shoot him and get it over with.
Spartan

You have never seen death, real pain have you Chewy. I grew up in Saudi Arabia with live beheadings. Just think about getting hit with a sword/axe 7 - 8 times before it goes through your neck. Its not a pleasent way to die. And just because someone killed another person doesn't mean that the person should be killed by firing squad, it can take more than 1 bullet to kill someone. Some people have been shot 9+ times in the face by a 9MM and lived, thats not pleasent. If you want to kill someone, kill them with the Guillotine, quick, painless, and never fails. France used it the most, and its really really fast, next. 4 seconds later, next.
You also have to take into consideration that people make mistakes. Not everyone on death row is guilty of the crime they were convicted for. How would you feel if you were sentenced to death and shot the next morning? Then a few months later the police discovered they had made a mistake. How would your family feel? Maybe the few months spent on death row aren't necessarily a negative thing.
It's taken me a long time to realize that death is not something someone deserves and it shouldn't be something we ask for. We are given life for a reason even if it may not be as apparent as we would like it to be. I have yet to find my purpose. So while I'm still searching, I've decided to be selfish and live for me and no one else just because I can. I'm going to enjoy everything about life simply because I was given the oppurtunity to live. And maybe one day I'll know why I was here, but even if I don't I'll have had fun discovering and experiencing everything that life has to offer me.

The firing squad doesn't shoot just 1 bullet. And there are many different court sessions that take place before someone is actually sentenced to death if it's that serious. So if they're are sentenced, it's been thought about and they should be punished accordingly. And the beheadings you talked about in Saudi Arabia, the government and court sessions and the thought that goes into the decision of the punishment here in America aren't done the same over there. It's less civilized I guess you could call it. But really, you can't call any place civilized because you can't control that group of peoples' minds that are going to cause the trouble. There will always be crime and craziness all over the world unless there is no life there. There will always be bad people because we have the ability to think for ourselves, and there will always be those that don't think the right way or don't think at all. There are tons of stupid people.

LESS CIVILIZED, Saudi Arabia brings in $3 Billion a day because of oil, that you all buy, thanks. They also do other exports, tons of them, steel, sand (duh), minerals, water (one of the most high tech water facilities in the world (10 of them when I was there and planned to build more)) amongst other things.
CRIME RATE United States lets say 9%,
CRIME RATE Saudi Arabia lets say 1% in comparison.
They don't have nearly as many jails.
Simple rules in Saudi,
You steal, you loose a hand,
You steal again, you loose the other hand,
You try to steal again (pros-arms) loose your head.
The jail in Dhahran/Kobar + 6 other cities is ONE JAIL and thats for 500,000 people. In the US we have like 10 jails for every 500,000 People.
Courts in Saudi don't last long at all. They work very very fast when a crime is committed. They don't take 40 months for a trial date, its like "Next week, we will see your a** in court."
The only thing that takes a long time in court is a freaking divorce or domestic crap.
A lady was murdered in once, and it took 3 weeks to find/prosecute/execute the murderer (it was the right guy, they have a very up to date CSI over there) and it sets an example.

I would consider that less civilized. I believe that's how it should be dealt with though. I disagree with many many things the american government does. And americans are oil whores. Why do you think the war in Iraq and all that is about? OIL! Let's just say that the two places are very different.

Thanks. I've done a lot of soul searching lately and I kind of came to that whole realization.
As far as countries being uncivilized, I think each country is uncivilized in it's own way. I also feel like people misjudge other countries. We are influenced so much by what we see in the media. More often than not foreign countries are falsely portrayed in our media, and only the negativity is shown. I can't comment on how the U.S. is portrayed in foreign media because I wouldn't know. I'd have to do more research.
When it comes to losing hands, I can agree with that type of punishment. It makes sense.

Watched Heroes again last night, think this is definitely a keeper, fo sho!
Coolest thing is, they don't leave you hanging with your head in the clouds like Lost, they actually give you somewhat recognizable clues...anyone notice the recurring symbol within the code of the dead fathers hero locator program?

The symbol that the painter had on a canvas as well.
It got interesting to say the least, so will continue to be watching it. The cheerleader daddy is some evil govt' agent I wager. Daddy of the congressman and brother was probably the precursor. Also think that cheerleader daddy is Siler/ Gene 0.
As far as the political stuff, Saudia Arabia and other countries having the stiff penalties is because they dont have liberals infesting their country. We used to be the same when puritan christians controlled this country.
With today's DNA evidence and such, it is alot less likely that your are on death row due to malfiesance of the courts or prosecutors.

In another 200 years they will be wondering who in their right mind would use chemo-theropy to try and cure cancer. And we will be nothing but barbarians of the past...
My whole idea on life is this,
"Every day you wake up you're chances of death increase so enjoy it while you can. You will never see today again, and you'll be lucky to see tomarrow"
But at the same time I believe when it's your time to go you will reason being:
A lady jumped out a 12th floor/story window, moments before she jumped a guy rode up on his Harley and parked it. He had just spent a fourtune on a new seat that was desighned for comfort for long rides. And you gessed it lol, the lady landed on the bike seat and suffered just a couple pulled muscles from the impact. She then walked to the emergency room and checked herself into a hospital.
Mean while Steve Irwin dies because a stringray punctured his heart and even if stung by a sting ray it's almost never fatal unless an alergic reaction occurs.
Spartan

The sting ray punctured his heart. It wasn't fatal, until he pulled it out. He was in shock and panicked, he pulled the tail/spike out and he bled to death.
I believe also that when its your time to go its just your time.
Car accidents are a perfect example.
Lady goes 100mph and hit a semi-truck, she walked away with a bruised elbow.
Man drives 10mph down tarablvd and hit a stop sign, died instantly, broken neck, ribs, internal/external bleeding. crushed left hand. WTF.
Fate has a way of kicking our butts.

He would have died anyways as I understand it, becuase the stingray poison in a paralytic poison and would have stopped his heart before he could have gotten help anyways.

As far as I'm concerned, if anything pierces your heart, you're dead.
Did anyone here hear about the man that was pulled over for a speeding violation in Lakeland, Florida? (That's where I live!) He didn't have right ID or something like that so he shot and killed one cop and that cop's dog, and then shot another cop in the leg. He was then on the loose for 24 hours with over 500 cops and SWAT and everybody searching for him in packs. The next day around noon, I think, he was found about 75 yards away from where he shot the cops. He had buried himself under a fallen oak tree. When he was asked to show his hands he only showed one, then he was asked again. Only one hand. So, he then pulled out his other hand, holding the gun of the cop he killed, and was shot 68 times! Obviously, to his death. 110 shots fired, 68 hit. Crappy aim, but still that's crazy!
It was the biggest man-hunt of all time in central Florida, I think it said. And it was all 40 minutes from my house. I was on opposite side of town.
Ziegler

Heard about this, and that's what you get when you kill a man's dog.
As to the bullet count. I have contested this count...as to the amount being fired. Most cops are still carrying 10 round clips with one in the chamber...meaning probably either 99 or 108 shots were fired, as they tend to empty their gun in a shootout like that. I didnt get how many cops were actually shooting at him. At least that is one that wont have to waste our time with a trial.
just waiting to hear that he was an illegal to top it all off.

In the newspaper it said 110 shots fired and 68 hit. I don't know how many cops were gathered when they unloaded on him.
Wouldn't it be funny if it turned out to be some hobo that just snatched the cop's gun hoping to get some money off it and went to sleep for the night under the tree? That would be crazy. They don't know what happened to the gun used to shot the cops and dog though. At least not since I last checked.

I see your point, but I still think the argument is debatable. How can you honestly pin point one country as the best without first at least sampling what EVERY country has to offer? And don't judge the countries you know nothing about before you really give them a chance. It might surprise you. And as far as porn goes. I think that is a really lame reason to want to move to Japan.

Well I haven't had the oppurtunity to travel nearly as much as I've wanted to since I'm only 16. And I kind of can't afford it. I'm in love with nearly everything about Japan, but I dislike seeing people disregard other countries without really knowing what they are about.
