Ok, I don't know if this is even possible but..... Is there a way you could have an in-game XM radio or something. That would allow the players to listen to pretty much whatever they wanted to. I think that would be pretty cool. Tell me if this is possible.

It would definately be cool. You could listen to anything you wanted and if you want your friends to hear whatever song happens to be playing just tell them what station to put it on and you can share the song. There could be like a little thing in the bottom corner or somewhere that you click on and it brings up the radio thing where you can stations, turn it off/on, or whatever else you could do with it.
Any devs have somethin to say about this idea? I personally think it would be a good idea. Not because I thought of it, but I just think it's a good idea.

Considering that companies such as XM and Sirius are subscription based, we would need to gain permission from them first and then on top of that figure out how to broadcast that signal over the game servers. The broadcasting part could hurt ping times for players and the permission would probably be difficult to obtain unless players started to join XM or Sirius because of Kaos War.

It was just a thought I had right before I layed down to go to bed, so I figured I'd post it and see what you guys think.
So that means it most likely wont happen?

Will an in-game mp3 player be sufficient? It might have to :)

well, this falls inline with ingame voice chat. First and foremost....if you do it, can you do it better than the third party apps out there that are free or inexpensive?
There are several apps already on the net for listening to radio stations, so would it actually be warranted?
If implemented, how does this effect the sounds of gameplay? Will it detract from the "ambience" or the background music, will it keep you from hearing that Al'Gar coming up from behind you? Just not sure it would actually see alot of ingame use.
Now, ingame support for messenger programs wouldnt be bad though.

Well, music and sound volumes will be adjustable through the options menu, and I dont see why we couldn't add an easy way to adjust mp3/voice volumes in the main ui, so IF something like this was in, it would be up to the player to determine what he/she wants to hear. I am personally a proponent of being able to hear the gameplay related sounds and ambience, and I usually disable music while I play most games. Depends on the mood of course, sometimes it is nice to throw on some killing music lol, usually only after I am familiar with the gameplay.

You don't ask for much do you, geez.
The Mp3 stuff should be rather simple for the casual game, this is how I edit my music. I RENAME THE SONGs I LIKE, EX. FortMinor Where you go - Rename it BattleThemeMusic.mpg (Whatever the file is named) and omg, instead of listening to crap, I listen to my music. It takes me about 20 minutes to redo the entire gameplay sounds for CS/CZ/FF11.
But to implement a "drag and drop" auto feature would be nice, lol. more work for devs, less for gamers. lol.

A radio would be cool if your talking along the lines of ingame chat.
If you plan on doing that can you please make it so its button activation and that you can mute people?

I totally agree with this idea.
This also can be like a alter/application, so slow connection speed users can play without much lag and still hear some standar in-game music.
Something cna be awesome is to have a lil Internet browser in-game. I mean many times you ar eplaying but you need a break while slling or so and a browser can make things lil better for us.
