Ok, I was wondering about the moons. How many are there going to be? I think it's cool when there's more than one moon in the sky at a time. It looks cool. And what will they look like?
Also, I'm wondering about weather. Does it rain and storm randomly, will there be a set schedule, or what? What kinds of weather will we be seeing? Anything besides rain and lightning?
Can anything be said about this now, or is it too early?

Where I come from, there are many moons in the sky....
what planet are you on? ;D

so far, the weather schedule is set up like this:

WHEN it rains, it pours.
IF it is snowing, THEN it is cold.
When lightning strikes, THEN take cover.

just kidding ;D

I did like the falling ashes bit in the Silent Hill movie though...

So, does that mean there will be an area with falling ashes? (That was cool) And does the lightning actually have a chance of hitting you? Or the cold of the snow affecting your characters movement, strength, or anything else?

Well if he is I want to be, I won't be much help when it comes to technical stuff. But I deff got the creativity for it. ;D

And I totally like the idea of having the elements effect your character. I think it would deff be cool. Maybe you could use the hover screen to give a weather forecast, LOL.

So if my character gets old and gets arthritis....he should stay out of the cold? :o

And getting struck by lightning should melt all the metal items you have to your body. lol

Is chewy on the team or something? ;)

Late post, I was gone all day. But I wish i was on the team although I couldn't really program or anything seems how I'm only 14 and in 9th grade with no experience. :(
I could come up with ideas and stuff but I can do that on here, just harder to put into written words.

And I totally like the idea of having the elements effect your character. I think it would deff be cool. Maybe you could use the hover screen to give a weather forecast, LOL.

That would be awesome, having the forecast broadcast from hovering screens.

So if my character gets old and gets arthritis....he should stay out of the cold? :o

And getting struck by lightning should melt all the metal items you have to your body. lol

Not necessarily arthritis..... but something where your character is cold due to the snow and he needs to be active to keep warm and his movement and all is slowed because of the cold affecting his muscles. And if you are wearing cloth or leather, it needs to look wet while it is raining and until it dries after. But if it's cold enough to where it freezes onto the armor, then it would be dumb for it to drip off or evaporate like it should if you're in a hot area.

And if lightning struck you while wearing metal armor, it should give it a drippy sort of look as if it was melted and then it hardened again. If that happened there could be like molten versions of the armors. They couldn't all look the same though, because it would be repetetive and boring. There would have to be a way to prevent the armor from melting though because it be an almost random event and it would really suck if you spent time working up to get your armor. I would probably have a molten and a normal version if it were me because I'm cool like that.

Also, if the environment has these affects on your character it would be cool to have a sort of list of players and how many times they've been struck by lightning. These records could be shown on the Hoverscreen perhaps? You'd be walking along and see that so-and-so has been struck the most times and then you see him and shake his hand and get shocked because he's got an electrical charge in his body from being struck so many times.

If getting struck by lightning had that kind of affect on you, it could be a good or bad one depending on how you look at it. If you decide to wear metal armor and not protect yourself from the lightning, it could maybe weaken your armor and make it look less fashionable (or more depending on how you like it). That would be the bad part of getting struck. The good part would be having and electrical current running through your body (that strengthens with the more hits you have?) that can aid you in battle by adding a little shock to your strikes and maybe damaging your attackers if they strike you. This couldn't be a big difference in battle but more of a little tweak that looks cool because it can't be exploited from being too strong.

And if you decide to protect yourself from the lightning then you have stronger and cooler looking armor. Again the look is an opinion. If your character used a gun rather than a sword, the shock would be a pointless addition at the expense of his armor.

Being struck by lightning couldn't have all positive effects because it would be something that isn't predictable. Maybe the chances can be raised by wielding ceratin weapons or going to an area that attracts more lightning, but you shouldn't go stand in this position and get struck with a 100% chance. The chance should only be slightly raised by a percent or two because how often do people get struck by lightning? If it's random it has to be good and bad in a way since it would be preventable. Don't want to be struck by lightning then wait out the storm or have protection from it. Or you could take your chances.

Ya.. that's just a bunch of thoughts. We don't even know if lightning has any affect on your character at all. If not then almost all of this post is pointless, but I believe there are some good ideas in there.

p.s. WOW, I hit "preview" and I noticed that this is my longest post ever. I amazed myself. ;D

First of all, I can't believe you're only in 9th grade! Such a FRESHMEN! ;D
Okay so I had to thrown in a little teasing because I'm a sophomore and I'm awesome like that. ;) No offense.

Anywayz, you really do have some awesome thoughts in there as to the affects that lightning could have on your armor. I hope the DevTeam takes these ideas into consideration if they haven't already because it's deff awesome. I also like the ideas about ways being struck by lightning could affect your character as far as in battle and everything. I wish I could borrow your imagination for like 5 minutes and see what I come up with because seems like you put it in overdrive with that post. LOL.

I would expect it too, obviously...... But is there any chance that anything like I said last night will even be in the game. I mean the whole armor and electrical charge thing and the leaderboard-like like thing on the Hoverscreen. Has any of what I said even been thought about or anything like it been thought about?

If multiple moons were tied into the universe, you could always have Humans know a type of "Moon" magic. The strength and abilities of the spells are dependent on what moons are out (and how high they are in the sky).

so with 1 moon they would be ub0r and with the other one they would get WTFOMGIPWNEDURASS

a few stupid ideas :

how bout mobs affected by the moon? eg: a wolf type monster changing into a werewolf whn the moon is full gaining xtra dmg etc.
or mayb even a ghost type boss appearing only at night so many ppl will be hunting the boss at night walking around looking for it.
how bout even a dungeon that is located in the middle of the hill, and when it rains,it floods the place the people inside fighting boss will die coz of the lack of air(mayb a time saeing whn will it rain)

Please see "Dragonlance"

What you have to consider when you start basing things off of Day/Night or other cycles.....how long are those cycles going to be, 1 hour of real time(RT) = 1 hour of GT? or 1 hr RT = 4 hours GT(meaning every 6 hours of RT would = 1 day of GT) or some other one?

Are your customers going to like being locked out of features by what time it is they happen to be playing?

Nice idea, but not sure how good of implementation it would be.

I liked your ideas hellmagic. Especially the the first one; double-layered enemies would be pretty sweet. Your last idea gave me an idea. How about atmospheric effects like rain, or snow, or whatever reveals certain location.

Like, on the full moon, at the height of night, a rune will appear on the face of the moutain greeting the sun, trace this rune three times to gain entrance to the heart of Darkness?

Or only when the storm rages, does the island appear so that a landing will be possible.

Again, it's going to be a limiting factor on gameplay, it would be fine for a couple or few quests, but not used in abundance, and therefore, the return on effort would probably prohibit it for a smaller budget game...i.e. KW. Now WoWzzard, they should be spending huge amounts of money putting new features into the their game, such as this. But since all their stuff was really just ripped off of other games, they are optimzers, not innovators.

Mister Matt

what I was thinking was the second thing you said zieg. I guess it could limit gameplay, but it doesn't have to be a quest. It could be just like a random instance or something out in the land.

And to expan on that idea, there could be a barrier in front of it or something that looks normal instead of it just appearing out in a field. Or it could be a big tunnel where the entrance only reveals itself after it rains or whatever.

Dragonlance was awesome with their moons tied to the magic sects of the white, red, and black robes. If I were to ever make a fantasy MMO it would be Dragonlance. Can you imagine? Flying on a real silver or gold dragon fighting Tahkisis sending her back to the abyss? Or becoming evil and riding a black or red dragon into battle.

No, never ever let it be so.....I see enough rip offs Raistlin running around every other game....every mage in that game would be some tuberculosis infected, black robe mage with a misspelling of Raistlin.....

R4istlin:Hey Rai5+lin....what are you doing?
Rai5+lin: Oh, Me, C4r4m0n, Rasti|/|, Ra1stlin, Ra1stl1n, and R415+l1|/| were going to run Pax Tharkas again, you up for it? But Ra1stl1n has to run by the library in Palanthas first...........

Not to mention, that WotC would have it's hands in it, and after DDO....no thank you...maybe if they ever let MW and TH have the license, I would change my mind. The idea of every 3rd level mage taking a quest that they either complete or lose their character on, is appealing.

Note: This coming from a man who named his youngest son, John Raistlin.

Yeah, a little background...
I am old.
When Dragonlance The Chronicles came out, the Dragonlance Modules for DnD came out as well, I had to actually order my play group that if I found them with a copy of the books they wouldnt get to play anymore. I DM'd those 12 modules(there was 15 actually, but the last one was a game of it's own and one was a reference for after the books and the other was something else I cant recall now.

Anyways, so I had to run the Mage in the group as an NPC(modeled after Raistlin or course), because they didnt want to play a mage under me. So I got to play him as I was reading the books as well. And being the dark wierd dude at school, Raist called out to me, and I always said if I ever had a son I would name him after Raistlin. Well, he is named after my dad and Raist.

How's that for Fanboi.

If there is phases of the moon, when it is full we should get an increase in our stamina or something :) Different types of magical attacks and physical attacks could also play a role in here. Such as waning and waxing moons, waning for defensive and waxing for offensive attacks something like that.

When there is crazy weather like a blizzard, earthquake, hurricane (*cackles*) tsunami, (jk...) well...heavy snow or something, there should be a big event in the game that occurs, to make the event even harder to approach and triumph ;)
