I was linked to a video by the starwars galaxy boards and after watching the video thought "there's no way these guys are gonna succeed"..

But then something occurred to me a lesson you might say I learned a long time ago...

I was talking to my supervisor and had mentioned I was thinking of asking this girl out and she was pretty much the hot babe on base as we would refer to her...

Well of course I was laughed at and told no way would she ever say yes and pretty much ridiculed...

Needless to say it really ticked me off so I said ya whatever watch this, i pulled out all the stops so to speak and next thing you know I was dating her and everyone was !@#$%^&* their pants...

What people fail to realize is that when some of us are the underdog and told it will never happen the human spirit and drive to prove these nay sayers wrong is stronger than most can ever hope to understand...

So I decided to check out the site and after reading some of the posts of what can actually be said and hinted at to this game I really think your on to something here...

I've been playing MMo's for a while and have played almost all of them. The only reason I haven't played all of them is because well either there is a country restriction or I can't read their particular language...

Just some quick advice though, something I think that no MMO really does yet, when something is found to be overpowered they ALMOST ALWAYS swing the Nerf bat at it and in a sense that just seems a little dumb. Every game I played has done this and I have always wondered instead of nerfing a prof. and ticking off a small percentage of the player base why don't they add skills to the other prof.'s in effect giving them an alternative to this particular "over powered attack" or whatever it is...In effect not ticking off that small percentage and mean while the larger percentage of players are pleased to get this enhancement...

I've played SWG for a long time only because I like starwars and the roleplay aspect of it if anything look at what they did and do the exact opposite. They have done what no other MMO has done and are paying the price for it now...You know it's bad when the fanboi's are now leaving because their sick of all the changes lol...

The only thing other than the title that has kept me there is the ability to own my own house and be able to decorate it...

Anyway just wanted to say this really looks promising and I'll be in and out checking this game out along with sending some friends and old guild mates to check on this because everyone has to start somewhere...

Just don't get down on yourselfs if after the first release not everybody flocks here. Most people wait and go to games by word of mouth so your first customers are what will spread the "word of mouth" and make the game for you...

Also communication with the customer is the most important thing IMO. I don't know how many times I've seen on the SWG boards that someone was upset at a change and stated, "I would still have been upset but it would have been nice if they told me why they changed it because then I would say OK I can see why now but they never tell us $%^&!"

Ohhhh I really want to know when you'll have a working video up too we can drool over lol...

Anyway good luck and lets get the word of mouth going now because this seems like a really promising game for the future...

BTW I'm all for nerfing in the beta were it needs to be done as thats what a beta is for and understand an error in code may need to be corrected here and there that may get out. Nerfing I refer too is a nerf after the game has been playing the same way for a year and then for some strange reason after a year they nerf it lol...

I and the rest of the team are very nice guys and gals and we want our players to feel welcomed. For it is you we are making the game for. So sit back relax and get ready for the ride of your life in Kaos War.

Things get nerfed instead of buffed for a reason. Let's use EQ2 (Everquest II) as an example:
There are 24 classes. One class is found to be painfully overpowered due to an ability or a game mechanic. Let's use the example of Rangers. Say some new ability gives them the ability that allows them to do obscene DPS. If other classes were given some buff to allow them to reach that level of DPS themselves, multiple problems arise:
1.) There are 23 other classes. The developers would have to make a lot more changes and spend a lot more time making sure everything is balanced.
2.) If you buff players, creatures need to be made stronger. Even more work.
3.) If you continuously buff players without anything getting weakened, numbers get out of control. Before you know it, you may end up with #s rather than being originally as high as 10-15kish on very high recast abilities, end up as high as 50k, if not higher. Numbers shouldn't get that high.

Yes I understand that but I think the question is how did it get in the game in the first place?

If properly set up and tested the overall aspect should be that everything is there working as intended and any bugs or exploits can be ironed out after release that was missed in the beta hence refered to as a nerf.

However when was the last time you were playing an MMO and they just decided to delete your prof. and not have it in game anymore? Had 8 difrent toons all diffrent prof.'s and 7 of them had to re-spec to new prof.'s because all of the other ones were deleted.

The one I had left was reduced in power litterally by 500% now this is a bad nerf IMO and that is what I am re-fering too as a nerf.

Take FFXI for example IMO they have never nerfed the game however people who use to use exploits and known bugs to their advantage will say otherwise although it was not inteneded to be that way in the first place.

Same with WoW I have never seen a real nerf in the game although others will disagree.

I understand the whole point your trying to make as I've been a coder for almost 14 years now but what is a nerf to you is nothing to me.
