You all remember that WoW plague bug? where it spread from character to character and soon everybody had it?

I think KW should do stuff like that... on purpose.

Random world events are fun.

ofcourse not for ever just for a week or a couple days mass war the current wow "invasions" suck tbh there just some mobs who hardly interact you need to "pull"them all the way to a city in order to get some sord of an invasion

i certainly hope there are some killer world events! world events keep the game alive and help not to become stale because you never know tomarrow might bring an invasion of 1000000 aliens and you and your city have to fend them off.

ROFL...

Ya player events is huge even in SWG everyone tries to go to them and it's about the only time everyones on in SWG lol..

Would be kind of funny if a plague broke out and if you caught it and it scared you for life at least if the scar was cool looking kind of like a reward. Maybe just give beta users a scar to differentiate them from the rest of the population kind of like a memento or the first 1000 people get them who signed up on the forums lol...

I Imagine that its probably been thought of by a great many people before, so Hanstin unfortunatly you may well be out of luck with patenting the idea of a large number of people attacking somewhere in waves.

I would say that the main reason that this sort of thing hasnt happened in games of this type has to be the hardware limitations on the newtwork and possibly even the graphical side (some people just can't keep up to date with the latest $1000 graphics cards :p).

But we are looking into some great network technology and I feel that this sort of war is everyones vision for the game, so if you cant do this when you buy the game, blame the programmers ;)

Philosophically, world events are a great idea. They're different, dynamic, can create a sense of community or competition, can advance the story of the game, and sometimes have truly unique items as prizes.

But they have problems. The main one was mentioned by Carl, and was something I first really experienced when the Blue Dragon Hrallar invaded the Moonglow cemetery (lolz ... so long ago) – lag. Lag so bad it was like playing through treacle. Lag that had me pounding on my keyboard and throwing around my mouse to try to get my computer to live up to its end of the laws of thermodynamics - that for each action there is an equal and opposite reaction.

There's also the question of involvement. In the UO Live Event I mentioned before, the result was never in doubt, the sheer firepower of the assembled uber-avatars was enough to have defeated a rainbow coalition of evil dragons, not just a solitary blue one. Involvement can be even more remote when there's a single prize to be won. In this type of world event you're more of a pawn than a hero.

But I reckon the real opportunity lies in giving gamers the chance to really affect the course of a game. The example that stands out in my mind comes from Legend of the Five Rings (http://l5r.alderac.com/introduction.html) when (in August 1997) it put the future of Legend’s story arc into the hands of its fans. The allegiance of the winner of the Day of Thunder tournament decided who won (http://archive.salon.com/21st/feature/1999/01/15sidebar.html) the battle between good and evil.

If KW could pull off something like this, I reckon it'd become a gaming legend.

Hello this is my 1st post and definetly not my last I plan on giving as much input as I can and being part of this community that is sure for greatness.

I left WoW because I wanted world wide war. Well not world wide but 100 vs 100 people lineing up and just bashing eachother in different locations tho because in WoW it was the same environment, same place every pvp fight. All tho I still like how in WoW if your a NE and you can shadowmeld behind a tree or by the road and gank people that gets me hiped up.

In EVE you could do the 100 vs 100 for parts of deepspace being controlled by different corporations (guilds), is there something like this in KW? Also EVE had a calculator that came in handy alot I wished I had it in WoW sometimes you might want to think about that.
