Long time no see forum users. I know Damon made a post a couple of months back but I figured I would make a new one for this. Legends of Kaos (http://www.legendsofkaos.com) will be launching to alpha tomorrow and although it will be a limited list of testers, I'll add a few of you at a time to the alpha tomorrow when it goes live.

So, send me a private message here with your email address and make a post in this thread if you feel it's necessary. Odds are the folks I've seen posting most will be most likely to receive invites over new members (thems the breaks! but I'll be sure to invite a few new members to be fair)

I hope it doesn't need clarifying, but I absolutely will NOT be sharing this email with anyone, period. It goes on our alpha mailing list, no where else. I'll add a few of you tomorrow morning when I get in to the office and based on the number of responses I receive and our personal needs, will add more occasionally. Please check spam email folders in case it doesn't make it to your email box. I will send a forum PM tomorrow to those who should be receiving invites, but will probably not continue doing that for future invites, so if you fall in that category check your spam folder because you never know.

Feedback given in threads on this forum will be read by me if they're labeled appropriately, but I'm incredibly busy with production so I may not have time to respond! I promise I'll read it if I see it.

There are more eyes on the bug feedback forms on the official page, so I recommend using those as well, especially if you can be precise.

Thanks for being patient guys, I know we have incredibly long stretches of time without updates, but things have been very busy around here. The guys in this office have really been working hard so now we need you guys to show us what you can do. Feel free to tell me how you hate it, how it's stupid or how you think it's the worst game ever! Just tell me why at some point =)

Now for some speculation :p From what i can see on the website it looks like legends of kaos isnt really a full blown MMO, but just limited to combat, maybe or, maybe not linked to the real kaos war...

Im guessing, you fight, win money, buy new weapons, and then fight someone better, win money (or items), by new weapons.

Either way i cant wait to see how the combat works :D (if i get in).

Oh an a question, are we allowed to take videos and screens?

Im guessing its 3d browser based. The models damon showed were 3d, so unless its a 3d fighter on a 2d plane...

I mighta understood you wrong. But the models damon showed us in the other thread were definetly not for the full blown game, 1.) the thread was called private alpha and 2.) the models are to a far lesser quality than those seen in the screenshots.

Few things:

Those of you without invites I will get around to the rest in due time.

Battles vs Spars: Battles give you a bonus of xp and (in the future) will be the only thing counted for win-loss ratio. Spars are instant action, and currently that is your best method of doing some fighting.

Submit bug reports by clicking on any yellow ? helper popup and inputting what's wrong.


Animations are all placeholders, and there's no hair. We don't need bug reports for that =)

Anything you post in these forums will be read by me, so feel free to start a thread or two devoted to LoK and talking about it. We'll constantly be monitoring the game and balancing things, so your feedback is very important to us.

And currently it seems kind of unfair, because you didnt do me any damamge and i didnt do any to you.

I dont think so.

Basically, its just a create your character. No customisation as of yet, just male or female, all human.

You then choose one of 3 classes. Magic, Melee or ranged.

You put your desired character name and etc.

Then once you characters completed, you go to the inventory page called chamber. Basically, just a 3d representation of your char, and a drag and drop with the items which are icons, like a typical mmo. And when you drop, your character changes so he'll be wearing the armour, or wielding the sword you just equipped (not working for me though lol).

The actual combat isnt done by you at all and is entirely stat based. You just click on someone, battle them, then a page comes up with a battle replay, which shows your 3d representation fighting the enemys 3d char (this doesnt work yet either :p). And below this battle replay it a log of the battle turns. So like

Amz does a blunt attack on reddo, Amz misses
Reddo does a blunt attack on Amz, Reddo does 10 damage

And so on and so forth. If youve ever payed the online game "my brute" it is very similar to that. http://mybrute.com/

Then theres the Bazaar which is your average market (except with an awesome name). You can search, set the paramaters so you can fidn the right armour/weapons for you.

Thats about it.

having some latency issues? that could be a number of things :confused:

It's true, and it's not that I'm discounting any of your suggestions, but we are using a server which we intended to upgrade as soon as we ran in to this issue. It's really quite slow (single processor, 1.7g RAM). It has certainly changed some of my thought process on some of our SQL hits. Things like "Legendary Rivals" and "Suggested Opponents" take a fair bit of calculation and are fairly SQL heavy, so I might revisit them and try to optimize.


Edit: Game seems to be functioning after a fix I made. I used this opportunity to invite some more users. Send another PM if you do not have an alpha account yet and I'll see what I can do.

Seint, you can make additional characters by clicking the character silouette under your characters picture on the left side bar. It should say Manage Characters when you mouse over it.

edit: wtf is with jimmy's character? seriously it's gone up over 10 ascension ranks in under 2 minutes... I've been reloading the page with his character info on it and its going up non-stop.
(I clicked on him a bit ago at ascension rank 112... now he's 128 and it's been about 4 minutes)

edit 2: it's been about 2 hours since my last edit.. he's now level 254. Is the dev team testing something out or something?

I expect my char to be reset sometime soon. So I wouldn't worry to much about it. This is Alpha so I would also assume all characters would get a reset before the next phase.

We're doing our best to keep the data live, it's good practice. Nothing planned immediately but as long as people aren't abusing the system we don't want to unless we have to.

We'll be reseting accounts later today, and in the mean time I'm going to sign up the people I missed prior. If you still don't have an alpha invite in another hour or so let me know.

Could use a great deal of testing for the various abilities, now that tactics work. Likewise, suggestions for new conditions for the tactics would be useful.

I'll be sure to test out the abilities since tactics will be working properly. I'm sure I'll have quite a few questions as well.

they work properly on new characters right now, if you want to try them out. Just not your old ones, we need to remove existing tactics and generate new ones. Not hard to do, really.

New build is up, characters have been wiped. Play away, folks! I need tons of data on the abilities/tactics, especially. Sorry it took so long we had some critical bugs that we didn't want to ruin your play experience.
