just downloaded a game called shaiya, I was kinda board and it looked kinda interesting and abouve all it was free to play.
after about 30 minuits of play i found the interface to be the most anoying and counter intuative ive ever played.
To get to the point, Is there going to be any kind of ui customization options, I know it hurts when someone tells you yer ui isnt good enough and makes their own but everyone has their favorite ui layout.

Hardcore mode! That's also my solution to everything.
Let there be NO UI (or very little)

chat, quick stats, and skills. Maybe a minimap with quest markers on it.

I say let there be a UI but make it so you can customize it how you would like it. Such as action bars, health, chat, mini map and perhaps system/menu options.

i say no UI, though obviously some bare essentials, like maps and health.

A long as it's a customizable UI you can please just about anyone except those that are never satisfied.

Or just be able to disable whatever you don't like. :P

no, just plain no UI. UI's in most MMOs are terrible and distract from skill, and intimidate new users.

a minimap, and health is all that you need, and all that you should have.

UI's are old, and feel dated, the new fresh way of doing things is having everything assigned to just a few buttons.

You sure about that Amz. How many chat boxes do you usually have up, do you regularly get accused of ignoring ppl because you miss the tell some1 sent you when it got lost in the sea of spam, do you regularly get yer raid wiped because you weren't sure which mob to agro, do you know if the weapon you've just equipped is actually making any difference, how would you know, ya don't have a ui. To put it to a point the UI is responsible for a great deal more than increasing the difficulty of a game by implementing a "god only knows whats happening" mechanic into the game.
Just imagin yer playing UO before they improved the ui. I just gotta type corp por and press enter. "ooOOoo" What I didnt type all those o's, oh wait i died, bugger!, ok hey you their buddy can you rez me please, angon, all he can see is oooOOOooo. Oh wait he sees me. long pause "ami thakos you fail to connect to the underworld" long pause again, i guess its taking a while to type in the commands, "ami thakos you fail to connect to the underworld" bugger, ok is he gonna try again I hope "ami thakos you fail to connect to the underworld" bah, oh wait no he's board allready and buggered off.

Keep the chat visible, but make the boxes transparent. I don't need a black box giving leeway to a gank party.

Transparency is a must. This should be customizable as well.

have an option to make it click through
we have all been there were were wondering why were not going anywere because weve accidently clicked on the chatbox when trying to click on a mob spouting the words "wwwwwsasaswqda2211112233324"

Agreed but all you need to do is be able to lock the chat bar unable to click it or some auto-lock feature would work.

I agree with most of what everyone is saying.

The UI should be designed in such a way that you can have everything open if that is how you like it. I know that as a healer your screen is usually littered with items. So in the healer's case having more is always better.

Having the UI customizable is key for those individuals (tanks) who just need to know what their health is and where they are.

And if the UI is outrageously difficult for someone, I believe they should have the option of going in and editing it down. Or set it up so that as they level, different UI's pop up with instructions on how they operate. This would allow users to learn step by step as they progress(with the option of adding everything initially for experienced players starting over or experienced players who just want to hit the ground running).

Best UI that is developer friendly (ie: not World of Warcraft's LUA scripting one which would take an army to produce) is Guild Wars. You can enable/disable certain things as well as move things around on your screen and even resize the elements. Simple, to the point, very user friendly, and most importantly very customizable. Some people like vertical bars, others like horizontal bars etc.

I did like the customization of Guild Wars' UI. I had mine just how I liked it.
