Interesting. I will just have to wait till I get a Fire dragon than an name it Damon. I will be naming my dragons after my mates from this community ^.^ If you want dibs on a dragon send me a pm ^.^ my scroll is here:

Once you guys get settled I have a suggestion. For the live streams and any upcoming community events you guys should make a calendar. Not only announcing them in this forum but with an added calendar it would be easier to keep track of what, when an how.

that really would be a good idea. And it would maybe spur our dev team to be a bit more punctual :D

Almost done school thank god, 2 weeks and then I am free until September!!!!
so I caught this signing up for the Kaoswar community:
http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/702988 I have to say, for the lousy technical problems, you worked through it like veterans :)
So here is what I think of the panel, honestly they sound like the status quo pushers of MMO Gaming companies, the ones who push for it to be the same as it has for 10 years. You pointed that out to them, told them what the ENTIRE gaming community has been crying for the last 5 years, and honestly it felt to me they brushed you off.... some of the things they said...OMG!!!!
Anyhow (this may not be right thread, move if you like) but Damon I could NOT help, I had to put in my two cents:
So here I am watching the video at this gaming convention (sorry didn't see where) and you show your Business Model I am thinking OMG!!!! FINALLY a company that seriously understands what the people who hold up these GAMES WANTS!!!!! The PVPers, or the Guilds who make a name for themselves or the Roleplaying Guilds that make the World a Solid living entity!!!!!! FINALLY another Company who is willing to BREAK the Mold!!!!! Awesome!!!
And then..... I watch them try and shoot you down for it..... those two major people talking to you, talk to you like it's not a SOLID Idea.... I was like are you that DISCONNECTED? Seriously!!!?
What about Age of Conan? ok it started it off shitty and the whole Gaming comunity proved we are the bread and butter how.... we actually paid for that game!!! to buy it!!! and it was Beta at best..... but now The Game has made a complete and utter 180 degrees, if they can get the publicity they might be back in the running.
Then of course there is the shadowy corners of severe hard core gamers and where they play........ these guys don't know about EVE Online??/
That entire game is Community based, run... in many ways... The economy, the Corporations like guilds, the Zero Sector where no one goes because the high end and humungous guilds rule.... they willl PvP your butt hard core.... Most new gamers like from Wow, can't handle the old school PvP....
I applaud you Damon, (if that was you or whomever it was in the video) because those guys are clueless as to what the Community of Gamers truly want... I mean that 20% you mention is exactly what we want... focus on that, for once Plan the PvP above everything... the end game stuff, heck I am looking at Mortality Online....because they actually have the flag system built in as apart of the game from the get go.....at least from what they say.
Sure we all know what they say, what they deliver is sooo different... I believe your world and the community you are trying to build very well could be the Next Generation of Gaming, you might very well be one of the Pioneers. :)
Don't let them discourage you, I know that your numbers will shame there status quo thinking :) I do however have some concerns.... I think it's awesome that you want to include the community, but you know if it's as a good game as you plan, we are WILLING to pay for the box... sure maybe the servers could be free or near depending on what you guys want.... But please if WE the community are willing to Pay to play awesome games, don't build it in modules sure.... heck add the Map Editors like Never Winter Nights... whatever let them build areas, add new items, give story ideas.... but let them submit them....heck you could even hand out free months for their worth??/
Ok sorry I had to add my cents in.... but your presentation was awesome, the characters and the lands look amazing for the little we got to see... I look forward to see more and PLEASE PLEASE ADVERTISE lol I want to be in the BETA so i can gloat to all my Guild buddies :P
Ciao for now

Like he said though not all gamers have the budget to affort p2p games (me). I have to use the money I make from my very short hour job on other things like gas and rent. Along with the fact that your not gona want the players editing the already existing maps, if they are going to do something with maps give them a program to create a map from the ground up if they have the intrest and tech savy for it.

Thanks for the feedback Shade. That was Techcrunch50. The guys that were on the panel are very well known entrepreneurs and investors. Don Dodge actually gave us a great review after the presentation. You guys will see more of what I mean by "Social Game Development" soon. Its something I'm very passionate about and want to change into the way its done for our industry especially online worlds.

took me awhile to understand what ur saying but it does make since to wait till after the realese of even the alpha to socialize more with the gamers for the simpal reason there actually playing the level base setting at which you have created and can achieve better feed back. Then also even during closed beta when more come along will allow for much closer partisipation between the gamers and the developers to help equal out many bugs and glitches in almost a real time basis.

I haven't been around here for quite some time ( since the little reality show began) and it's nice to see you all have moved to bigger offices and are still working on the game.
Just watched the video and it's quite interesting. Releasing the game free I know will attract many many people to it, especially if it has more unique and different things.
I have been playing mmo's since UO/EQ and really lately I have just gotten tired of your usual mmo style of game (IE the EQ style formula that most mmo's follow like WoW).
My best memories of an mmo are from UO and it's so great because of the community, the people I met in it I am still friends with til this day. A lot of mmo's have shifted away from the community/social driven style of a sandbox style of mmo toward the EQ style of a "theme park" type of mmo where you move from a zone to zone in an order of quests deisgned to lv you up with nothing much more but getting uber items to kill bigger things and do it over and over.
I hope Kaos War will be different from this model and try things differently with more of a open social aspect and focus.
