Kaos Weekly - The International Newspaper

I was just roaming the forums when i saw something i wrote in one of my inevitable battles with hanstin, and it gave me an idea.

A kaos war newspaper, bought ingame (cheap) which tells you all sorts of things and keeps you up to date with the goings on in the world of Kaos.

It would be an informative, funny newspaper, telling the reader a variety of things which would tell the reader a variety of happenings within the world of kaos

It could keep an ongoing story thoughout the world of kaos, which i think is a really important factor, telling of mobs furthering into your nations realms, about an old enemy resurfacing, etc. etc.

Also reporting on hot zones for loot and the such. Allowing the average player to know all the good places

Advertisements on the newspaper could be actual shops in kaos, maybe a few player run shops aswell, which would have to pay the newspaper for the advertisement space. Also it could be used to advertise upcoming events.

It could report on rankings, the latest tournaments and big PvP showdowns.

Providing information on upcoming patches. say there was a new area, it could be like "Attention citizens of Kaos, our noble explorers have found an exciting new land, christened murky woods, though beware, it is throught with peril, and my informants tell me that their are fierce monsters there" etc.etc.

I really do believe it would enhance gameplay and help the average player to get the most out of the game. Obviously it would be written by someone, weekly? So a dev or something. Though even better, it could be run by member(s) of the community, and then submitted to the devs to edit incase is goes array.

If it isnt included, i will slice your toenail off.

I love this idea. They can also make the weekly newsletter available for view on the games website. In game people should pay something like 5 gold/ whatever the currency is for the newspaper ^.^ The gold will than be stored in a huge bank for an OFFICIAL weekly in game lottery. Where one lucky player who buys a newspaper, will also get cash. So this newspaper brought should also include lottery numbers. Just an idea...would be pretty hot. If they can't do it weekly, which...it would take a lot of time to gather all needed information. Monthly would be more likely in my eyes...but who knows if Kaos implements this into game they might surprise us.

Also! With the live broadcasts there could also be an option to watch the "news". Maybe update this broadcast monthly along with the newspaper. Have us be able to tune into this news channel and not just live broadcasts. Would make it more flexible for players who don't like reading and would prefer watching ^.^ I would do both...but it is just a thought.

Other than that I love this idea and yes it is a must have...

Thats sounds awsome Amz. One thing to change to Rhiannon's response. I assume you are talking about the Kaos TV broadcasts. Instead think WAAAAAAY back to the Creating Kaos videos and remember that they planned to put a little in game broadcasting TV which would tell all about the goings-on in the world. That combined with the newspaper would be insane!

As for having the actual newspaper monthly, i think it wouldnt work so well as weekly, and though you may think it would take alot of time, i dont think so if it was ran by community members.

Say the newspaper releases every Monday, the devs could give some information on the previous wednesday like:

-The big front page storys subject e.g. A new area being found called "boogie", and information on boogie so the writer can warn about monsters or tell of the great rewards

-The hot loot zones (which will come into effect only on the Monday, so the writers cant benefit from it)

-National Border changes, so informing the public of whats happening with your nation.

-Things like the rankings would just be added by the editor dev.

So the writer(s) of the newspaper would have all the information they just need to incorporate it into funny writing. And all the information could easily be obtained by the devs, seeing as they know what new patches they are making or what theyre going to spring on the the world of kaos. The rankings would be easily obtainable off of the server (seeing as most MMO's have a live ranling system anyway). Tournaments and the such would also be easily obtainable info.

As for the new broadcasts, i think that mister matt's idea of incorporating it into the tv thing off of the reality show would be really cool. However, instead of having it monthly, have it shown during every major patch (a new area or something) or a major event (the gorgonzolian zombies have invaded every nation, defend your cities!).

Ohh! im relly anoyed now, i really want them to incorporate this but it doesnt seem likely :( .

I may just write a fan newspaper now for fun :p

I can just picture this walking through the human town and as you look upwards there are TV's and a broadcast is going on. That would be pretty neat. Nice Idea;D

I really like the thought of this idea. It would keep the game interesting for the casual players and would put much more feeling into the game. I really like the lottery idea too, that would add an extra bonus into it. I'm with this idea 100% :).
